The Friends of the Botanic Garden

The Friends of the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden is a non-profit organisation of volunteers that works in conjunction with the Coffs Harbour City Council to develop and maintain our wonderful botanic garden.

The Friends aim: To develop and promote our Garden for the enjoyment and education of the community.

We have over 200 Members, of whom about 80 volunteer their time in a range of tasks.

The Friends are headed by a Committee which meets monthly. The 2013 Executive Committee members are:

President: Marg Murray

Vice-President: Eve Colley

Treasurer: Kim Raymond

Secretary: Jan Moran

Joining the Friends

New members of the Friends are always welcome. We are a diverse group who share an enjoyment in contributing to a worthwhile co-operative project, in a beautiful environment. All membership fees and donations support the Garden's activities.

If you are interested in becoming a Member of the Friends, please fill out the downloadable Membership Application on this page.

Volunteering

If you love gardens there is no better place to be a volunteer, get involved with the local community, and watch the Gardens grow. (Marg Murray, President)

Many of our Members also volunteer their services to the Botanic Garden. The volunteers are involved in activities including: Committees, Working Bees, Propagating plants for sale, Seed Bank, Herbarium, Guiding, Education, Information Shop, Garden Cafe, Events, and Fundraising.

International connections are made through the Seed Bank, which has a catalogue made available to botanic gardens throughout the world. This also provides a valuable source of seed for rare and endangered plants. The Herbarium stores pressed plants, seeds and flowers, and volunteer caretakers of the Herbarium use these for plant identification, a service available to academic institutions, government departments and individuals.
