Visitor Information

The Garden is open every day from 9.00 am to 5 pm. 

Bicycles and domestic animals are not allowed in the Garden.

There is no entry charge, however donations are very welcome, and all money goes towards garden improvements. 
The Information Office and Shop are staffed by volunteer members of the Friends between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm during weekdays; and 9 am to 5 pm at weekends and on public and school holidays. 
The people on duty assist with enquiries and serve in the shop which carries soft drinks and icecreams as well as souvenir items. Plants are also available for sale at the shop
A range of leaflets is available, as well as information about self-guided walks.
 
Guiding.
Guided Garden tours are available by prior arrangement. These may be walking tours, or on one of the “people movers”. There is a small charge associated with guided tours and use of the people mover. Call the Information Office on 66484188 to enquire about these.
 
Display room.
A well-equipped, air-conditioned display/meeting room is available for rent. This may be used for exhibitions or small conferences. It contains equipment suitable for presentations.
A fully equipped kitchen is adjacent to the Display room.
A smaller conference room near the Herbarium is also available for rent and is suitable as a small meeting place. There is also a kitchen attached to the room. 
Toilets are located at the entrance, and also at the northern end of the Garden. 
Paths are wheelchair accessible, although some need care. There are two wheelchairs and child strollers available at no charge. Umbrellas are also available.
 
Plant identification.
The Friends provide a limited plant identification service. Details are outlined in the leaflet entitled “Herbarium” available at the Information Centre at the entrance. Those who wish to have a plant identified should leave a sample of leaves attached to the stalk, fruit, and flowers in a plastic bag labelled with the location of the plant and a contact name at the information centre.
