Children's Kite Day

First Sunday in May,(6th) a celebration of all children in the Japanese Garden.
Gates open 10 am at the Botanic Garden
200 Koinobori kites will fly high over the lake and northern oval.
Tokonami Bonsai Society will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a major bonsai exhibition in the Conference room.
Entertainment: Karate and Judo Demonstrations; Taiko drummers; traditional games and story-telling; Anime fashion; Kite flying.
Workshops include Irigami; Calligraphy; Manga Masks design; and kite making.
Plenty of food available: Sushi, a Japanese barbecue, traditional Melonpan bread refreshments and Japanese pancakes.
The Coffs Harbour Branch of the Australian Koi Society will have displays of Koi Fish and information booths.
